Suparna Diwakar brings over 35 years of experience across the development and education sectors, spanning grassroots organisations, nonprofits, think tanks, universities, government and policy. Her work has taken her from rural development and community work to institutional development, education reform, curriculum design, leadership development and systems change.

She has co-founded and led institutions such as the Indian School of Development Management, worked with organisations including Azim Premji Foundation and UNICEF, advised governments on education policy, and contributed to national curriculum and textbook development. She has also been a mentor and advisor to social-sector leadership programmes, including the SEWA Fellowship.

But perhaps what makes Suparna particularly valuable as a mentor is her ability to straddle the theory–practice space. She brings together systems thinking, institutional understanding and lived experience of working with communities and organisations. Her work has consistently involved asking not just what needs to change?, but how do we create the conditions for change to endure?

Today, her work is increasingly centred on regenerative development, wellbeing, leadership and Indic knowledge systems. She is also pursuing a PhD exploring regenerative development through an Indic lens.

For someone trying to work on a social issue, whether through research, practice, an organisation, a new idea or a career transition, Suparna offers something more valuable than ready-made answers. She offers questions, perspective and the experience to help you find your own way through complexity.

At PI, we see mentorship as a space to pause, think aloud, make meaning and occasionally look at a familiar problem from an entirely different vantage point. Suparna brings decades of doing exactly that with people, organisations, and ideas.
